Most Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers utilize potassium bromide (KBr) for components such as beamsplitters, detector windows, and optical transmission windows—a choice dictated by the required spectral range and the fundamental physical properties of the material. Because KBr is hygroscopic, our company has developed the DA series of intelligent electronic moisture-proof cabinets specifically for FTIR spectrometers.
These cabinets feature high-performance electronic dehumidification units and microprocessor-based humidity control. They are energy-efficient, operate silently, and provide a clear, real-time display of humidity levels. Designed as an essential accessory for FTIR spectrometers, these cabinets offer protection against dust and moisture, significantly extending the service life of the instrument’s core components.
The moisture-proof cabinet contains a regenerative desiccant. Once the desiccant reaches saturation, the internal valve closes and an external valve opens; the unit then uses electric heating to evaporate the absorbed moisture. Upon completion of the dehumidification process, the external valve closes and the internal valve reopens. This cycle repeats automatically as long as the unit remains powered.
